NOCF 2016 CHARITY ARMY RAFFLES - Da Bad Moon Skwadron (Part3)

Posted by with No comments

This weekend we were able to fill in the last missing piece for Da Bad Moon Skwadron. The Deff Dread from Greg Hess landed heavily on our doorstep and we quickly got it under the camera. Greg did an incredible conversion job to meet the army's air force theme, and his paint job is very nice too. What a wonderful centerpiece model!

We particularly love the Grot tucked away on the base!

And now, the final unit to feature in the Ork army. These crazy, mini-jet fighters come from the warped mind of Joe Johnson, leader of Team ORK this year. Heavily converted (from last Easter eggs, no less) and wonderfully painted, these models represent the Warboss and his Nobz mounted on Warbikes. There's even a Painboy in there!

You can purchase tickets for this army (and many others) by visiting the NOVA Open Charitable Foundation website.

You can buy tickets from anywhere in the world.
You do NOT need to be present to win.
We WILL ship the armies/models to ANYWHERE in the world with a valid mailing address!

Join us in raising money for some wonderful causes!

NOCF 2016 CHARITY ARMY RAFFLES - Da Bad Moon Skwadron (Part2)

Posted by with No comments
In the last article we looked at the infantry for Da Bad Moon Skwadron. This time around we'll take a look at some of the vehicles that make up this spectacular force.

First up is the lovely Dakkajet you see above. This was painted by long-term contributor and sponsor of the efforts of the NOCF, Justin McCoy (aka Misterjustin) of Secret Weapon Miniatures. Not only did Justin paint up this wonderful plane for us, but this year he contributed all the bases for the Ork army, and all the bases that will be on the Novamarines army we'll feature soon. Thank you again, Justin!

Our second Dakkajet was painted by an expert modeler known for his weathering, particularly on the 30K Alpha Legion he'll be bringing to the NOVA Open this year, Marc Raley. Marc will also be running the Horus Heresy events at the NOVA Open, so be sure to hunt him down and congratulate him on an excellent model!

Our first Battlewagon was painted by Celso Mendez Jr. Celso is a well-known painter from Mexico who loves to paint clean and crisp Sons of Horus Space Marines, so the yellow and weathering were new for him. We think he's done a simply wonderful job! Additionally, the battlewagon has been fully magnetized, so you have a lot of ability to reconfigure it to suit your list.

The second Battlewagon was painted by Max Dubois, who has been painting with us for quite a few years now. He really went to town on this one, enjoying all the rust and battle damage on this brutal vehicle! You can see more of his work at Hellfire Painting.

And finally, for this post at least, one of our new recruits - Michelle Blastenbrei - created these excellent Deffkoptas to enhance the airforce theme of the army. Not only is the painting great, but Michelle ensured the rotors wouldn't snap off the models by magnetizing them. When you need to travel, you can simply pull the rotors off and pop them in a separate section in the carrying foam. You can see more of Michelle's excellent work at MiniPainterInk.

One more update on this army to go. It will include the wonderful Deffdread from Greg Hess, and the centerpiece Nob Bikerz unit from team lead, Joe Johnson.

NOCF 2016 CHARITY ARMY RAFFLES - Da Bad Moon Skwadron (Part1)

Posted by with 2 comments

Well, it's that time of year to give you all a rundown of the awesome minis in the Charity Army Raffles for 2016! First up we're going to take a look at the infantry in the Ork army painted by the Artists Consortium - Da Bad Moon Skwadron

This army was designed to be a riff on an air force, with two Dakkajets, a control tower, a mob of Deffkoptas, a mob of crazy jets (counts as Nob Bikers), and an awesome ground crew.

These first two mobs of 20 Ork Boyz each were painted up by newcomer to the team, Joel Moon. Joel is perhaps better known to many of you as Mordian 7th, from his excellent blog (HERE).

Veteran team member AJ Taflan helped us out this time around with this mob of 10 Boyz.

And another new member of the team, Greg Hess, busted out these Grotz. Greg is also hard at work finishing up the best darned Deff Dread you have ever seen! You can check out Greg's Blog HERE.

Ken Webb has been on the team from the start (I think), and he painted up these wonderful Stormboyz. There are 15 Stormboyz, including a Nob with a wicked Power Klaw, plus the awesome Zagstruk!

Max Dubois, another veteran member of the crew (from Hellfire Painting Studio) painted up this Weirdboy for us, along with an excellent Battlewagon that we'll see in the next installment.

And they don't get more veteran than Chris "Jawaballs" Dubuque, who painted up this second Weirdboy for us using the new Orruk Warchanter. We liked this guy in particular because his two raised bones could be used as light wands to wave the Dakkajets into their hangars : )

Battle for the Craftworld - Sons of Orar - The Command models arrive!

Posted by with 2 comments

For a couple of months now, we've been showing you the composite photo of the Sons Of Orar army with two of the models silhouetted - the Chapter Master on Bike and the Librarian. Well, now that the Chapter Master has been featured in the digital pages of Figure Painter Magazine and the Librarian has appeared on the Dave Taylor Miniatures blog, we can show you these cool models.

Our thanks go to Sean Fulton for the wonderful centerpiece for the army, the Chapter Master on Bike. Sean put a lot of hours into the planning, conversion, and painting of this model and you can read all about his process in FPM. Much like his contribution to last year's army (the Venomthrope for the Tyranids), Sean has excelled himself. It is such a lovely model to behold, you can feel the strength of conviction of the fearless leader as he rides his bike directly over an Eldar weapons platform.

The Librarian was painted by me this month, kind of as a cool thing to drop in towards the end of the campaign.

We have a few more photos of these models that we'll leak out around the Internet. Keep an eye open for them, and don't forget to buy your raffle tickets today, HERE. Just click on the Armies tab and head to your favorite army (or buy tickets for them all).
